Photographing the abandoned South Bend Studebaker Factory was such a great experience. The automotive factory was built in the 20's and closed in 1963. The building covers nearly .2 square miles, most of which has been left untouched since the 60's. A Notre Dame alumni bought the property and is renovating the factory into a high-tech children's science center within the next 10 years. I got to photograph the building before the renovation went into full force in the spring of 2015. I'm inspired by the photography of #MatthewChristopher in his series #abandonedAmerica in which he captures the beauty of abandoned spaces and advocates for the reservation and reuse of buildings around the country, much like the Studebaker Factory.
Since a young age I've been interested in creating stories through movement. In elementary school I used an old cam-corder to create stop motion films of my toys moving around my room. When studying graphic design at the University of Notre Dame I used programs such as Flash, After Effects and iMovie to animate infographics and telling a story more efficiently. From taking theater and film classes since childhood, I have a good understanding of timing, placement and dialogue which translates well into my design animation and motion graphics.
Once I started Industrial Design and 3D Digital Production, I used the skills and knowledge I acquired to transition into the use of programs such Maya, Solidworks, Keyshot and Mudbox. For every animation, I create a storyboard to touch on the most important actions throughout the piece.
In this self-guided class project I designed and branded Paws All-Natural Dog Treats, a line of high-end dog treats that contain carefully researched ingredients to target the specific needs of three different groups, puppies, adult and elderly dogs.
